Raised in Fond du Lac, I had the chance to travel Wisconsin’s rustic roads, rural valleys, and country highways as a child. I experienced first-hand miles of forests, farmlands, rivers, creeks, and an occasional wooden bridge. These family friendly tours of Badgerland included cheese factories, breweries, museums, state parks, historical sites, and eating some of the best apple pies ever at a whole lot of church picnics. All of these back road adventures were more than enough to help me learn my first word, “cow,” entirely appropriate for a little girl growing up in America’s Dairyland. Those miles of smiles criss crossing the state that has given us cheeseheads, Harley Hogs, and The Fonz have also paved a highway to my heart for the memorable places and fun family experiences that help make Wisconsin a backyard of national treasures.
Today, my wonderfully patient husband and I raise three incredible daughters in Georgetown, Kentucky. Kentucky is a great place to raise our children, but I long to share my wonderful childhood experiences and other Wisconsin adventures. I miss my native state, and in an effort to quench my wanderlust daydreams, I wrote The Wisconsin Bucket List. Wisconsin is now my family’s favorite vacation destination, where we rekindle, reconnect, and recharge. I am delighted to share some of my favorite experiences, and I am excited to help create new memories.
